Thought I would share another recipe while I have a chance.
While this is not a food related recipe, it is one that is a great money saver.
It was one of my many Pinterest pins. Yes, I LOVE PINTEREST!
This blog has many other links that are just as awesome as her laundry soap recipe.
Just in case the link doesn't work, I have included the recipe below.
1 (4 lb 12 oz) Box of Borax
Found in the detergent aisle
1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
Found in the detergent aisle
1 (3 lb) Container of OxyClean- Found in the detergent aisle.
(This an optional ingredient, but I agree with original blogger, it really helps)
2 (14.1
oz) Bars of Fels Naptha or Zote Soap
Found in the detergent aisle, I used the Fels
Naptha
2 (2 lb)
Boxes of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
Found in the cooking aisle
(I used the Wal-Mart store brand, which was a few cents cheaper)
1-2 (55 oz) Bottle of Purex Crystals Fabric Softener
Found in the detergent aisle
Could also use Tide Unstoppables or Gain Crystals.
1 5 gallon bucket with lid
Grate the Fels Naptha with a regular cheese grater, don't have to be real picky about this.
I let mine air dry on a cookie sheet some before mixing in with other ingredients.
Original recipe suggests using the bottle that the Crystals come in, but I had difficulty with the grated soap clumping while I was trying to pour it, so I use the OxiClean tub and measure about 1/3 of the scoop.
I do recommend mixing this in a well vented area, this is due to the fine dust from the powdered ingredients. After I had all the ingredients in the bucket, my children had fun rolling the bucket around to "mix" it.
All ingredients were found at my local (small) Wal-Mart, so pretty sure most of you should be able to find these ingredients. If you watch the coupon inserts in your local paper, most of the time you can find a coupons for the Crystals/Unstoppables/or Gain, and the OxiClean.
All ingredients cost less than $30.00 to purchase, and this included the 5 gallon bucket & lid I bought to store it in.
